ETIC bronze rating

5.2 / 10

Situated in the southern region of the Sanbona Wildlife and Nature Reserve, White Lion offers guests a unique opportunity to observe the iconic `Big Five` wildlife. The lodges at White Lion are designed with boutique charm, featuring expansive verandas, an outdoor swimming pool, and a wood-fired hot tub. The suites at White Lion are beautifully decorated with local flair, showcasing thatched roofs and Karoo sandstone. In addition to the rustic aesthetics, modern amenities such as air-conditioning, internet access, and satellite TV channels are provided for guests` comfort. As part of the experience, guests are offered a complimentary sundowner drive through the Reserve in an open vehicle. This drive allows guests to explore the vast 30000 hectare Concession of the Klein Karoo Fauna & Flora, where they can observe various wildlife including antelopes, Cape Mountain Zebras, elephants, buffalo, and an array of bird species. For those wishing to partake in the early morning drive through the expansive 58000 hectare Sanbona Wildlife and Nature Reserve, there is a conservation fee of R1500.00 per person, per drive. This fee contributes to the protection of critical ecosystems, endangered wildlife, and plants within the Reserve. During this drive, guests may have the opportunity to spot antelopes, elephants, buffalo, lions, cheetahs, rhinos, and giraffes. In the evenings, guests can unwind and enjoy pre-dinner drinks by the fireplace. Dinner is served either in the dining room or on the terrace, featuring delectable specialties from the bush cuisine. The menu is thoughtfully crafted to complement South African wine labels and also includes pocket lunches, snacks, and sun-downer drinks for the excursions.
